During a conference on Public Wealth Management in Abuja, the nation’s capital, Vice President Kashim Shettima disclosed on Tuesday that authorities intercepted 45 trucks loaded with maize on Sunday night as they tried to reach neighboring countries. He emphasized the significance of this interception, stating that it led to a reduction in maize prices by N10,000, dropping from N60,000 to N50,000. Shettima highlighted the presence of 32 illegal smuggling routes in the Ilela axis alone, indicating the scale of the challenge faced.

Addressing the current turbulent times in Nigeria, Shettima assured the populace that the hardships they are experiencing will not persist indefinitely. He condemned those who exploit the situation to stoke division and violence. Emphasizing the need for unity and collective action, he urged the nation to transcend political differences and focus on governance.

Shettima underscored the threat posed by individuals who seek to destabilize the country for personal gain, noting their desperation to seize power outside the electoral process. He warned against allowing such forces to push Nigeria towards anarchy, emphasizing that the country is greater than any individual or group. He expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its challenges and emerge stronger.
