bp is streamlining its organizational structure to better align with its priorities for growth, which were outlined in February 2024. The company will maintain its three core businesses – production & operations, gas & low carbon energy, and customers & products – supported by trading & shipping. To enhance efficiency and reduce complexity, the current regions, corporates & solutions organization will be merged into the businesses and functions, while also introducing five key support functions: finance, technology, strategy, sustainability & ventures, people & culture, and legal. These changes aim to streamline operations and simplify reporting lines. The executive leadership team will be reduced to ten members, maintaining bp’s financial reporting structure.

William Lin, formerly responsible for regions, corporates & solutions, will now lead the gas & low carbon energy business, succeeding Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, who is retiring. Emeka Emembolu will take over as the head of bp’s technology function, replacing Leigh-Ann Russell.

Murray Auchincloss, bp’s CEO, emphasized the company’s commitment to becoming a simpler, more focused, and higher value enterprise, as outlined in February. He praised Lin’s leadership qualities and welcomed Emembolu to the leadership team, highlighting their expertise and contributions to the company. Auchincloss expressed gratitude to Dotzenrath and Russell for their significant contributions and wished them well in their future endeavors.

William Lin, currently serving as executive vice president for regions, corporates & solutions, brings 28 years of experience in various senior management roles across the globe, including Asia Pacific, Egypt, and the US. Emeka Emembolu, who has been with bp for 25 years, has held positions ranging from offshore engineer to chief of staff, providing valuable support and guidance to the leadership team.

These changes reflect bp’s ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and value creation in the energy sector.
