Following the failure of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the team’s interim manager Austin Eguavoen has stepped down.

The Eagles played out a 1-1 draw against the Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday evening in Abuja. A result that meant the team would miss out on the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

The team’s failure to qualify seemed to have caused a ripple effect as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)  has now withdrawn the two-and-half year contract offered to the coach and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew.

General Secretary to the NFF, Dr Mohammed Sanusi said, “We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours.”
