The Youth and Sports Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, has announced that his ministry will follow due process in dealing with matters concerning national football players and the technical staff.

The announcement followed rumours circulating that the national team coach, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr had been sacked. Speaking at a ministerial press briefing organized by the presidential media team at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday, Mr Dare noted that Rohr may learn his fate in next week.

Dare further noted that he will wait for a report from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) on the performance of the team in the recent matches, review it before taking necessary action. The sports minster could not confirm if Rohr had been sacked or asked to resign.

While noting that he could not speak much on the matter, he assured that the NFF report would be ready by next week, saying that the ministry would act based on its content.

However, he remained optimistic that the Super Eagles must qualify for Qatar 2022 as everything will be done to ensure that.
