Anambra State Government

The Anambra State Government has adopted Saturday as a school day to replace Mondays. The announcement was made in a government memo titled “Anambra State Government Approves Saturday as School Day.”

“I am directed by the Executive Secretary to inform you that Anambra State Government has approved Saturdays as school days in Place of Mondays. All Head Mistresses are to notify teachers, pupils as well as parents about the new development .” The Statement read.

This action was taken as a result of IPOB’s declaration of Mondays as a sit-at-home day. On July 30,2021, IPOB issued a statement through its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, stating that Mondays, beginning from August 9 would be declared as a sit-at-home protest until the release of their leader, Nnmadi Kanu from DSS custody.
