40 Buildings in Eti-Osa Shut Down For Ignoring LASBCA Approval

Buildings shut down for ignoring LASBCA approval

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has sealed over 40 buildings were sealed for various contraventions at the Sapata Town in Eti-Osa. The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development , Dr. Idris Salako disclosed that owners/developers of the estate were not adhering to physical planning laws and building codes of the State.

He further disclosed that most developers in the axis engaged in the indiscriminate development of the building without obtaining not have proper documentation and approval before building. “Over the past few weeks, we have had cause to interact with the developers and even issue Press Statement, asking them to stop work on their sites but they blatantly refused and continued their illegal activities.” Dr. Idris Salako said.

Speaking also was the General Manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Mr. Gbolohan Oki, he added that the Agency was doing its best to curb building collapse by identifying buildings illegally erected and dismissing work. Prior to this, developers refused to  acknowledge notices for them to stop work. He promised that the Agency is working relentlessly to ensure developers obtain necessary building permits from the LASBCA.
