One of Nigeria’s biggest cultural events, the Ojude Oba festival which was held on Saturday, 11 July 2022 felt like something out of a classic movie.

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the festival has made a dramatic comeback in Ijebu -Ode, Ogun State.

Ojude Oba is an ancient festival celebrated by the people of Ijebu-Ode, which is located in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria. This event usually happens the third day after sallah, to show honor and pay homage to the Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland.

During the reign of Oba Adesumbo Tunwase, who was a king when the British colonialist were still in power.

He allowed the Christians to come into Ijebuland and preach. Before then, he already allowed the Muslims to also come into the town.
