The Obi of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe who is the Anambra State Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council,as part his drive to promote education donated sizeable number of his books; ‘His Majesty Nnamemeka Achebe: A Ten Year Milestone’ and ‘Onitsha at the Millenium: Legacy, History and Transformation’, to Oko Polytechnic Anambra State.
He praised the school management for the achievement of the institution, the content of the academic staff is envy of most higher institutions in Nigeria
According to the Rector of the institution, Professor Godwin Onu, any lecturer that doesnt upgrade to Ph.D level stands the risk of loosing their job, that he prudently spent the resources of the school to send about 50 lecturers on course to obtain their Ph.D
Receiving the books, Onu described the monarch as “one of the most educated monarchs of our time whom the polytechnic is proud to identify with,’’ adding that the books would enrich academics at the institution.
