Lagos Fashion Week returns for its 12th edition in October 2023, bringing together the global fashion community to celebrate the craftsmanship of Africa and its diaspora.

Themed “Standing the Test of Time”, the event will take place from October 26 to October 29, 2023, in Lagos, Nigeria.

Lagos Fashion Week is a leading force in Africa’s fashion industry. It is helping to shape a more conscious future for African fashion, one that transcends borders, empowers communities, and generates real socio-economic impact across the continent.

It also provides a platform for emerging designers to showcase their work to international buyers and media. This helps to give them the exposure they need to launch their careers on a global scale.

Lagos Fashion Week, which has been running for over a decade, is dedicated to showcasing the creativity and artistry of African fashion. The event believes that collaboration is essential for the future of fashion and has established several groundbreaking partnerships over the years. These partnerships have opened up innovative pathways and created unique opportunities for African designers.

The event is centered around the idea of co-creation, celebrating diversity, and harmoniously fusing tradition and innovation to create designs that beautifully embody cultural heritage while embracing the advancements of the digital age. Lagos Fashion Week goes beyond merely showcasing fashion; it takes on the role of a champion for communities, elevating voices, nurturing talent, and driving positive transformation within the fashion industry.

Lagos Fashion Week 2023 will return with Runway Shows and Presentations featuring new season collections from designers taking place in the #LagosFW Tents and around the vibrant city of Lagos; Fashion Business Series – to facilitate conversations with key players from the Nigerian and Pan African industries and beyond; Visual Makers Fellowship – Created to empower budding filmmakers and photographers with workshops and masterclasses; Swap Shop – Created to facilitate new conversations and exchange of ideas surrounding sustainability in African fashion; XRETAIL – a curated shopping experience across key cities in Africa; LagosFW Showrooms – Access to shop some of your favourite fashion brands and After parties – an opportunity to experience Lagos’ nightlife and connect with some of Africa’s finest creatives in a relaxed environment.

Lagos Fashion Week is committed to fostering young talent, encouraging meaningful discussions, and advancing the growth of the local manufacturing industry. In pursuit of this dedication, they proudly present “Green Access,” an annual talent discovery platform now open for applications from Nigerian designers until August 23, 2023.

This season’s theme, “Standing The Test of Time,” serves as an inspiring backdrop for the Green Access program. The primary goal is to identify and support five exceptional young Nigerian talents who demonstrate a strong focus on sustainability in their designs, with a special emphasis on utilizing waste materials.

If you’re a Nigerian designer with a passion for creating fashion that leaves a positive impact on the world, seize this incredible opportunity and apply to be a part of Green Access. Let your talent shine, and together, let’s reshape the industry for a brighter and more sustainable future.
