The Anioma Council of Omus has declared that it is their duty to pray for the sons and daughters of Anioma Nation who are in politics, adding that they desire for them to progress in politics and not disintegrate along the line of hate and acrimony.

This collective decision of the institutional mothers of the Anioma people of Delta State was made known in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Council, HRH Omu Josephine Nwannabuogwu.

According to the statement which began by recognizing the place of Anioma Traditional Rulers as fathers and God appointed leaders in Anioma Nation; the Omus commended them for the role they are playing in ensuring unity, peace, security, growth and development in the various communities making up Anioma Nation.

The Omus posited that their roles are complimentary as Queen Mothers of the various Anioma communities, which are predicated on the sacred duty to protect, promote and project the tradition, culture and values of Anioma land to the world.

Reflecting on the critical importance of the season under review, the Omus asserted that praying for Anioma children in politics is sacrosanct to ward off evils, which often times are orchestrated by disputes, violence and betrayal and therefore create the atmosphere of peace, unity and sportsmanship in forging ahead without inclination to bitterness.

The statement further reads,

“As Mothers of our various communities, our primary role is to lead women, be custodians of the markets, and most importantly, continually pray for the town and our people with our Nze Omu Shrine.

“It is the place of the Omus to advocate proper Motherhood by showing examples with our conducts, behaviors and attitudes in private and public places.

“We therefore admonish Anioma sons and daughters who are in politics to play politics in accordance with the rules of the game and not kill themselves for power and pecuniary gains.

“We of the Anioma Council of Omus hereby commend the State Government headed by our own leader, distinguished and highly achieved son, His Excellency, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for its performance and numerous accomplishments thus far. We advise them to hasten development in critical areas of Asaba, Okpanam and other communities within Anioma before the end of their tenure in office. We must say that we are proud of the Director General and leadership of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) headed by our own amiable daughter,  Hon. Joan Onyemaechi for the clean innovation on Asaba Capital City, as we therefore commend and implore the Agency to sustain such tempo to truly reflect Asaba as a foremost Capital city in Nigeria”.

In a nutshell, the Council urged every citizen of Delta State to contribute their quota towards the development of the State, adding that their prayers are with the state and her people for peace and harmony ahead of the coming elections.
