Gunmen Abduct First-class Monarch from His Palace in Plateau

First-class monarch of Gindiri, Charles Mato Dakat, has been allegedly abducted from his palace by gunmen suspected of being bandits

The incident, which took place in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, according to an eyewitness, was said to have occurred at about 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 noting that the gunmen came to the palace in large numbers.

A lawmaker representing Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Bala Fwangje, also confirmed the incident. He noted that security operatives had been deployed to the community and were combing the bushes in search of the kidnapped traditional ruler.

Fwangje said: “The incident is rather unfortunate.

“I confirmed the kidnap incident with some of the security men. I also spoke with the paramount ruler of Mishkaham Mwaghavul of Mwaghavul nation who also confirmed to me what happened. Right now, the security men are in the bush trying to rescue the kidnapped traditional ruler.”

Military Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven in Jos Major Ishaku Takwa confirmed to reporters the kidnap of the paramount ruler.

Takwa said: “Troops of Operation Safe Haven at Gyambus have been mobilised to the area and are on the trail of the kidnappers.

Also, bandits terrorising parts of Kaduna State at the weekend kidnapped five peasants at the Kuregu area of Wusasa in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
