Following Napoili’s failure to take the three points and qualify for the Champions’ league from Sunday’s match against Verona at the Studio, the club’s President, Diego Armando announced the sack of the club’s manager, Gennaro Ivan Gattuso.

Napoli played a 1-1 draw against Verona on Sunday night after Armando announced the sack via twitter. He wrote, “Dear Rino, I am happy to have spent almost two seasons with you. Thanking you for your work, I wish you success wherever you go. A hug to your wife and children too.”

Recall that Gattuso took over management of the team Ancelotti in December 2019, giving the club its first trophy in six seasons in the Coppa Italia while finishing at a seventh-place finish in the Serie A last season. Also, the 43-year-old gaffer won 46 out of 81 games but despite having eyes on the Europa League and the UEFA Champions League, the team were eliminated in the round of 32, hence missed out on a chance to be at next season’s UCL. This influenced the decision not to renew his contract.
