Elections into the Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, board and local councils has been fixed for October 29th and 30th respectively.
According to Mr. Victor Nwangwu, the Chairman of the Caretaker of the Association, who addressed newsmen, he stated that the Association was given a mandate of taking charge of football activities in the state and supervise the election of local councils and the Association’s Football Board.
He also said that the Caretaker Committee has handed over the electoral duties to the Committee whose responsibility it is to see to the conduct of the elections.
Speaking on the timetable for the upcoming election, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Reverend Father Obinna Dike said that from second of October 2020, sales and return of nomination forms for both state Football Board and local council elections will commence while publication of names of candidates will be on thirteenth of this month.
Father Dike stated that from 15th and 16th of October 2020, candidates will be screened to ensure that all aspirants meet the requirements and guidelines of both the Association and the electoral body.
Furthermore,he noted that names of the successful candidates will be published on 19th of October while submission of protest letters and hearing of appeals is scheduled for 19th till 24th of October, while the election proper would be on the 29th of October for local football councils, followed by swearing in ceremony.
He added that 30th of October is for the election and swearing in ceremony of Board of the state football association.
It will be recalled that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF had on 5th August, 2020 set up a Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the Anambra State Football Association for the period of three months, following the expiration of the tenure of the Dr Ifeanyi Ubah-led executive team, and pending the conduct of fresh elections.
