Tinubu Assures Nigerians, Says Efforts Underway To Ease Food Price Hike

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that efforts are underway to alleviate the current increase in food prices.

Speaking at the 2024 Nigeria Institute of Public Relations Niger State Chapter Conference and Annual General Meeting in Minna, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, conveyed Tinubu’s message.

He highlighted engagements with state governments, security chiefs, and other stakeholders that have contributed to a significant reduction in food prices.

Former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, emphasized the importance of national planning in addressing future economic challenges and ensuring quality education, particularly for the approximately 20 million dropout girls. Aliyu made these remarks during the conference themed “Public Relations in a Challenging Environment: The Role of Stakeholders and Communications in the New Niger Agenda.” He underscored Nigeria’s youthful population and the projected growth to 450 million by 2050, stressing the pivotal role of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations in national development.

Musa Ladan, Chairman of the Niger State chapter of the institute, affirmed their commitment to supporting Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s New Niger Agenda. He emphasized the partnership between the state government and the institute, pledging full support to enhance the realization of the governor’s development objectives.

Dr. Ike Neliaku, National President of NIPR, emphasized the importance of maintaining professional standards in public relations practice to uphold trust among practitioners, the public, and the government. Meanwhile, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, representing Neliaku, echoed this sentiment during his address.

Prof. Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, Pro-Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University of Education, Minna, expressed optimism regarding Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s New Niger Agenda. He highlighted the roles of stakeholders, community engagement, and public relations practitioners in driving development, particularly in agriculture and education.
