What started with an exchange of the conjugal vows “for better, for worse” between Nigerian actor, Mr. Ibu’s daughter, Chioma Jasmine Okafor and her husband, David, appears to have hit the rock after nine months of “love and lies”.

Jasmine who shared in a post on her Instagram account announced her decision to bow out of her marriage after she found out that her husband of nine month has not been faithful and in fact the marriage was built on a lie.

The lawyer cum fashion influencer revealed that she found out, through her mother-in-law, that her husband had been married with three grown up girls prior to their marriage. She claimed this was conceded from her despite her asking her husband severally before they tied the knot.

Sharing the news via her Instagram account, ladyjasminec, she wrote, “This was the best 9 months of my life! I have no regrets whatsoever! I just won’t settle for a lie regardless! I forgive easily, I remember asking you about this severally before we started! Finding out today from your mum, really broke me! A foundation built upon a tiny lie won’t stand! I love how you loved me! But hate how you never mentioned your divorce nor kids to me! Moving on I don’t think I want anybody else! Just gonna love you from a distance!”

According to Jasmine, her marriage was beautiful and her husband worshipped her but she would not settle for less as she has already filed a divorce. In her words, “I don’t know if anyone is ever going to love me like he did. But this one lie. I can’t forgive. I have filed a divorce today… Never told me he was married and divorced! Yes he’s divorced, but still doesn’t change anything! I married a single loving husband! I won’t settle for less!”

“I love him so much! I appreciate all the love you showed me. You showed me a different version of love… but I can’t settle for a tiny lie. I can’t forget I wont forgive. I don’t owe anyone explanation… Don’t ever lie about your age for any reason.” she added.

She elaborated that her reason for posting the bone of contention is to prevent her husband from attempting reconciliation though she said it is her desire to spend forever together.

In a police statement signed by David, Jasmine’s husband, he admitted to have married her with deceit. According to him, he conceded his divorce and his three girls from his estranged marriage from Jasmine for the fear of losing her.

The statement reads in part, “I lied to Chioma because I didn’t think she would accept me. I really love Chioma but I guess from my past things just made me not to be faithful for the fear of losing her. I’m deeply sorry for the hurt, pain and shame I have brought to her and her family. I wish I could take it all back and do it differently. I will voluntarily give Chioma a divorce as she desires.”

Jasmine on the other hand, claimed she would have still married David if he had told her about his estranged marriage and children.

She shared that she might reconsider her decision but would not entertain any advise from anyone.

“Fuck anyone that has anything to say. If i ever feel the need to forgive and forget, she might reconsider her decision but until then, I will love you from a distance. I feel the love but the hurt is more. I was so beautiful. It was so perfect until it was a lie.”

Recall that Jasmine shared that she and David had met on Tiktok and announced her engagement and wedding arrangement via her Instagram account in February with the caption, ” See who’s no longer single! On the 28th February I said Yes to my MR Right. Court wedding 28th February, White wedding 28th August, Miami Florida, USA. Traditional wedding 28th December, Nigeria. You are all invited.
