The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, expressed his commitment to supporting the construction of staff quarters at the Nigerian Law School (NLS) in the nation’s capital. This assurance came during a courtesy visit by a delegation of NLS officials, headed by its Director-General, Isa Ciroma, to the minister’s office on Thursday.

In addressing the delegation, Mr. Wike extended congratulations to the NLS on its 60th anniversary, acknowledging the significant achievement of the institution over the years. During the meeting, the Director-General, Mr. Ciroma, presented a request for the provision of residential staff quarters and operational vehicles for the Abuja Law School. In response, Mr. Wike assured that the request would be taken into consideration for inclusion in the FCT’s 2024 statutory budget.

Highlighting the FCT Administration’s commitment to supporting government agencies operating within the city, the minister emphasized his dedication to the legal profession, labeling it as his primary constituency. He stressed the importance of providing support when needed, particularly to institutions like the Nigerian Law School.

In his address, Mr. Ciroma expressed gratitude for the minister’s longstanding support towards the NLS, citing various infrastructure projects undertaken by Mr. Wike over the years. He appealed for further intervention in the Abuja Law School, particularly regarding staff quarters and operational vehicles.

Moreover, Mr. Ciroma briefed the minister on the upcoming 60th-anniversary celebrations of the NLS, highlighting the minister’s nomination as a recipient of the Distinguished Award from the institution.
