Upon the Lagos State Government’s directive, the Lekki Conservation Centre is closed for repairs.

After a viral video highlighted concerns about the deteriorated condition of the canopy walk bridge and other areas at Lekki Conservation Centre, the Lagos State Government announced the closure on its official Facebook page Tuesday evening.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Lagos State Safety Commission officials visited Lekki Conservation Centre after a viral video. The statement expresses displeasure over the broken canopy walkway, stating that repairs have been made. “However, the site would remain shut for further routine maintenance.

“The Centre’s Director-General, Prof Mathew Onoja, thanked the State Government for intervening following the viral video in December. “He said the centre will remain safety conscious and will abide by the directives of the State Government. “The Ministry assures the public of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to safety at all tourist locations. Further steps will be taken to meet safety standards before reopening the center.”
