Former Super Eagles Coach Christian Chukwu has debunked the news of his death

Mr Christian Chukwu, the first Nigerian captain to lift the African Nations cup when Nigeria won it in 1980 responded to the news of him being dead and stated during an interview at his Trans Ekulu residence, Enugu that he is hale and hearty.

Mr Christian, the former Green Eagles captain, who celebrated his 70th birthday on the 4th of January, 2021 said he was shocked that some people would wish him death. He said “I am terribly embarrassed with this new that I am dead. Several people have been calling from across the world since the news broke. I am still investigating this story.”

Mr Chukwu, famously known as ‘chairman’ during his career days said that God was in control of his life. He admonished news reporters and journalists to always make proper investigations and get their fact rights before publishing an article.

When Mr Chukwu responded to the false accusation of him, he was in the company of some of his close associates including Barry Diala, Joseph Agu and his kinsman Peter Agu
