The 13th edition of Heineken Lagos Fashion Week is scheduled to make a grand return from October 25th to October 29th, 2023, showcasing captivating runway shows, presentations, and a host of other activities across the vibrant city of Lagos.
This year’s theme, “Standing The Test of Time,” reflects the organizers’ unwavering commitment to adding value to creativity by unearthing and nurturing new talents, as seen through initiatives like Fashion Focus and Green Access.
The runway line-up is truly reflective of this commitment, with a refreshing mix of established and emerging designers showcasing their latest collections.
A dynamic and sustainable fashion ecosystem depends on its ability to discover and support emerging talents. The organizers’ initiatives emphasize collaboration, skill development, and providing access to markets for these talents. From Thursday, October 26th to the 29th, the #LagosFW runway will open its doors to these budding artists, further solidifying Lagos as the continent’s ultimate destination for emerging talent.
#LagosFW2023 Lineup:
XRETAIL is making a triumphant comeback to Lagos after a successful series of pop-ups in major African cities like Abidjan, Abuja, Accra, and Cape Town. This time, from October 25th to October 31st, the concept stores Zinkata & Vane Style will host this exciting event, offering consumers the opportunity to discover a curated selection of both well-established and emerging African designers.
Lagos Fashion Week and ANKA, the Ivorian-based e-commerce startup formerly known as AFRIKEA, are joining forces for an exclusive event. On Wednesday, October 23rd, they will host a private roundtable dinner with influential industry figures, followed by a designer’s cocktail event to commence the LagosFW festivities.
UNESCO Report is set to debut at Lagos Fashion Week on October 26, 2023. Titled “The African Fashion Sector: Trends, challenges, and Opportunities for Growth,” this groundbreaking report provides insights into the vast potential of the African fashion industry and offers strategic recommendations for its sustainable expansion.
Runway Shows – From 26th October- 28th October, Lagos Fashion Week Tents will officially open for runway shows. Doors will open from 5 pm daily at Federal Palace Hotel.
Swap Shop – From 26th October – 28th October, Swapshop is back at Lagos Fashion Week in partnership with ZeClutter. Embracing the principles of a circular economy that emphasizes reuse, reduction, and recycling, the Swap Shop initiative encourages consumers to consider how their purchasing decisions can drive change by facilitating the exchange of pre-owned items such as swapping, sharing, donating, and resale.
Green Access Showcase – With a profound focus on transforming waste in Lagos into innovative and eco-conscious designs Luqman Ajani, Founder of Ajaneé; Adebayo Adedamola, Founder of Bornstarng; Wuraola Omiyale, Founder of By. Wuzzy; Tunde Shoremekun, Founder of E.S.O by Liman; and Temetan Omolabake, Founder of Dust of the Earth will craft their collections from waste materials, primarily using second-hand clothes sourced from the largest second-hand markets in Lagos and take to the runway on Saturday 28th October 2023.
Heineken at 150 Launch, one of the world’s most recognized beer brands, is marking its 150th anniversary with a launch event on #LagosFW grounds on Saturday 28th October. The launch event will be a demonstration of Heineken’s commitment to spreading the spirit of good times and embracing the ‘gezelligheid’ lifestyle that Heineken represents.
Lagos Fashion Week and The Fashion Collective Naija – Garments Of The Future – Lagos Fashion Week is embarking on an innovative collaboration with The Fashion Collective Naija to venture into uncharted territories by introducing “Garments of the Future,” an initiative aimed to create digital replicas of clothing seen on the runway. This collaboration represents a pivotal step forward in the fashion industry, aligning physical fashion presentations with emerging digital possibilities.
