His Majesty, Raba Gaye Konjwa of the Ndebele Nation in South Africa, delivered a powerful message during the grand finale of the 2023 Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife, Osun State. He called upon Africans to come together and address the challenges that our continent faces.

Konjwa emphasized the importance of unity among Africans, both on the continent and in the diaspora. He urged Africans living abroad to consider returning home to contribute their expertise to solving the issues that confront us.

Expressing concern about the divisions within Africa, the royal leader stressed the need to protect our rich cultures and traditions. He passionately called for an end to internal conflicts among Africans, emphasizing that together, we stand strong, but when divided, we weaken ourselves.

In the monarch’s words, “We can unite throughout Africa. Together, we stand; divided, we fall as Africans. So, we need to unite and protect our indigenous traditions. Let’s put an end to fighting among ourselves and embrace our unity as one people.”

Konjwa also highlighted the role of traditional leaders in this unity effort and commended His Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, as a colleague in the Sovereign Congress of African leaders.

Dr. Biyi Odunlade, the Osun State Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, added that the Olojo Festival celebrates the cultural values of the African race, emphasizing the importance of preserving our language, culture, and traditions.
