Synopsis

‘SHE Must Be Obeyed’ unveils the ruthless world of three successful music stars, marked by cutthroat rivalries and backstabbing.

Funke Akindele, portraying Siyanbola Adewale (SHE), embodies a thriving artist concealing a realm of avarice, hubris, and Machiavellian schemes behind her public humility.

At the event, Funke, the lead actor, explained her preference for a mini-series format to captivate the audience with intricate details.

She emphasized the importance of understanding contracts, seeking legal advice, and receiving guidance from experienced mentors to navigate the challenges faced by young talents in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Impact, learnings

Funke also stated that following the recent happenings in the entertainment industry, the movie will educate the younger generation of artistes in the music industry.

“We need to organize numerous seminars and workshops to educate young artists and emphasize their importance. While aspiring to be in the limelight is natural, it’s crucial to go through the correct phases,” she emphasized.

The star actress, affectionately known as Jenifer due to her comic series, ‘Jenifer’s Diary,’ wrote the script and drew from the movie’s moral lessons.

She reflected on the experience, saying, “Watching the five episodes taught me patience. It made me realize that when you’re in the limelight, you must be patient, cautious, and maintain a confident and positive demeanor.”

Funke said she wrote the film’s screenplay eight years ago; however, shooting began three years ago, sometime in 2020.
