A male student, Chiemelie Anunobi, the lone male contender from Government Technical College, Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, outshone fellow participants in the three-course meal challenge.
The six contestants, representing the educational zones of Anambra State (Ogidi, Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, Aguata, and Otuocha), showcased their culinary skills in the competition.
Following the initial stage, where participants crafted two-course meals, the top three contenders advanced to the final round.
Chimelie Anunobi of GTC, Nkpor, representing Ogidi Zone, secured the first-place position. Chisom Nworji from Kenneth Dike Memorial Secondary School, Awka, representing Awka Zone, claimed the runner-up title, while Blessing Nwabia from Carol Standard Secondary School, Ichi, Nnewi, representing Nnewi Zone, secured the third position.
The champion received a cash prize of two hundred thousand naira, the runner-up received one hundred and fifty thousand naira, and the third-place winner was awarded one hundred thousand naira. All other participants received consolatory cash gifts.
Mrs. Soludo commended the students for showcasing remarkable culinary skills and adhering to the competition rules. She explained that the contest aimed to instil hygiene discipline, diligence, and a commitment to healthy living, emphasizing an understanding of the uniqueness of food.
Mrs. Soludo emphasized the importance of preparing food naturally to instil the basics of an organic food lifestyle. She highlighted that delicious and healthy meals can be achieved without synthetic ingredients.
In post-event remarks, the three winning students expressed gratitude for the enriching experience. They acknowledged that the competition opened their eyes to new culinary insights that would guide their kitchen habits and overall healthy lifestyles. They thanked Mrs. Soludo for the opportunity and pledged to propagate the organic cooking lifestyle in their homes and schools.
