Nigerian Governors to take COVID-19 Vaccine

To encourage Nigerian to accept the COVID-19 vaccine, many Nigerian Governors will be administered the vaccine live on television.  Governor Kayode Fayemi while addressing a journalist in Abuja said he and his colleagues had accepted to take the vaccine so as to encourage Nigerians that they believe that the vaccine is effective.

Notwithstanding the gestures by Nigerian Governors, there are fears that many may not accept the vaccine due to doubt of safety, religious beliefs amongst others. Mr Fayemi noted that the purpose of getting the vaccine administered on live television is to reassure the general public on the safety vaccine. He said the number major aim in vaccine management relates to public health and risk communication.

Mr Fayemi appreciated the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 for its plans to use influential and prominent Nigerians to serve as publicity vehicles in reassuring the public of the safety of the vaccines. He revealed that the President has agreed to use influencers in all categories such as Bishops, Chief Imams, top musicians and much more to eliminate all forms of resistance from the people. He said “The more people that are seen taking the vaccines, the more the likelihood of resistance will break down in our various localities.

Mr Fayemi also emphasized on the importance of Nigeria to begin local manufacturing of Vaccines to eliminate dependence on other countries.
