Call for submission on the Anambra State Judiciary panel of inquiry

 *ANAMBRA STATE JUDICIAL PANEL OF INQUIRY ON POLICE BRUTALITY, EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLINGS AND OTHER RELATED MATTERS*
*CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF PETITIONS, COMPLAINTS AND  MEMORANDA*
1. It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Chief Willy Obiano, has inaugurated the Judicial Panel of Inquiry to receive complaints of police brutality, extra judicial killings and other relatef matters in Anambra State with Honourable Justice V.N. Umeh (Rtd.) as the Chairman.
2. The Panel which has one (1) months from the date of its inauguration to submit its report has the following terms of reference:
(i) To receive and investigate complaints of Police brutality or relating to torture, high-handedness, and alleged extra judicial killings by SARS and police in the State;
(ii) To evaluate evidence presented and other surrounding circumstances and draw conclusions as to the validity of the complaint(s);
(iii) Recommend appropriate sanctions and proffer solutions;
(iv) Recommend compensation and other remedial measures where appropriate to the State Government; and
(v) To submit report to the State Government within one (1) month.
3. Interested members of the public are requested to submit Petitions, Complaints or Memoranda in Ten (10)  hard copies of A4 size paper with double spacing and addressed to:

Please take notice that all Petitions, Complaints or Memoranda should be submitted to the Panel not later than two weeks from the date of this publication.
5.The Panel will hold public sittings on the dates and venue to be communicated to the public in due course.
