The inaugural World Culture Film Festival commences in Los Angeles on Thursday, launching a four-day celebration dedicated to showcasing films that inspire, educate, and celebrate diverse cultures.

The festival opens with the Oscar-shortlisted dramedy “The Monk and the Gun,” directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji. This Bhutanese filmmaker, known for his 2022 Academy Award-nominated film “Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom,” will participate in a Q&A session following the screening.

The event concludes with Wim Wenders’ Oscar-nominated “Perfect Days,” a poignant drama featuring Koji Yakusho as Hirayama, a man who meticulously cleans Tokyo’s public toilets, celebrated for their immaculate condition.

“The World Culture Film Festival aims to celebrate films that uplift the human spirit and unite people from all walks of life.”
