The Women Leader of Peter Obi  National Support Group, Edo State Chapter, Helen Taiwo Augustine, has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Wednesday, 7th of December, 2022.

Reports have it that Augustine was kidnapped at Ibillo in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. Reason for her kidnap is suspected to be connected to her influence as a grassroot mobilizer for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

She has been credited with being the brain behind the party’s followership in the Edo North Senatorial District.

Recall that on Monday, 28th of November, 2022, the party’s Women Leader in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Victoria Chintex, was murdered in her home while her husband sustained gunshot wounds.

Political violence has been recorded in the build up to the 2023 general elections. This necessitated the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to call stakeholders of political party to sign a peace agreement in the hope that they will bring their supporters to order.
