Woman Arrested For Kidnapping Neighbor’s Daughter

In Anambra State, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has detained Chinwendu Umegbakafoe for allegedly kidnapping her neighbor’s child.

According to reports, Umegbakafoe kidnapped the three-year-old girl with the goal to benefit from selling her to another person.

But the police detained the suspect who is from Isinkwo Abaomege in Onicha local government in Ebonyi State in a station in Nwawulu Street, Okpoko, Onitsha, Anambra State,

Anambra Police Spokesperson DSP Toochukwu Ikenga announced Umegbakafoe’s arrest and added that after initially denying stealing the toddler, the suspect ultimately admitted to the crime.

He continued by saying that the victim had been saved and given back to her parents.

The Anambra State Command operatives detained 29 years old Miss Chinwendu Umegbaka on Saturday, according to a police spokeswoman.

She was detained on suspicion of stealing a child in the Okpoko neighborhood of Onitsha, Anambra State, on Nwawulu Street.

According to preliminary information from Pulse NG, the suspect lives next door to the child’s parents.

Chinwendu originally denied knowing the whereabouts of the three-year-old daughter when he was apprehended. She confessed to snatching the infant with the purpose of selling her after more police questioning.

The toddler has since been found and returned to the parent.

Ikenga went on to say that the situation was the subject of an investigation.

The PPRO further stated that after the investigation was complete, the suspects will be charged with crimes and prosecuted in court.
