In a heart-wrenching event, news has emerged regarding the brutal assault and subsequent tragic death of Adekolore Idowu Glory, a 22-year-old recent graduate from the University of Benin (UNIBEN). The shocking incident reportedly took place on June 13 in the Iyowa community, Benin City, where unknown assailants attacked and raped the young woman, leading to her untimely demise.

According to a source identified as Glory’s brother, the tragic incident occurred as his sister was on her way home from school. Having graduated in April, Glory was in the midst of completing her clearance process when she became a victim of this heinous crime. Her lifeless body was later discovered near her residence, a short distance from her mother’s house.

The bereaved brother, expressing profound grief and a desperate plea for justice, called upon the authorities, especially the police, to expedite their investigation and apprehend those responsible for his sister’s brutal death. He shared his anguish over the loss, emphasizing the innocence and bright future that was cruelly stolen from Glory, who had just begun a new chapter in her life after university.

Taking to X, he wrote, “Justice for my younger sister Adekolore Idowu Glory, who was raped and killed in Iyowa Community, Benin, Edo State, on her way back from school (UNIBEN). She had gone for her clearance, and her corpse was found near our mother’s house.”

He continued, “Help us seek justice for my kid sister who just graduated from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in April 2024 and was still processing her projects and clearance when she was raped to death on her way back from school on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at just 22 years old.

“Her lifeless body has been deposited at UBTH mortuary on June 15, 2024, with the help of the Nigerian police from Ekiadolor Division. She was beaten, raped, and killed. Please, Nigerians, come to my rescue. The help I need now is just for my innocent sister. My mum can’t hold herself.”

Confirming this distressing event, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and bring the culprits to justice. Details surrounding the tragic incident depict a grim scene, with Glory’s body reportedly found unclothed, showing signs of physical trauma and evidence of sexual assault. The authorities are working diligently to ensure that those responsible for this horrific crime are held accountable.
