Tyla Steals The Show At The 2024 BET Awards

Tyla, South Africa’s music singer and songwriter, has won two awards at the 2024 BET Awards. She won in the Best New Artist category and Best International Act, triumphing over strong African contenders like Ayra Starr, Asake, Focalistic, and international acts like Sexyy Red and Fridayy.

Tems also had a notable win, taking home the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for her song ‘Me & U’. This award marks her third career BET Award.

Culture’s biggest night saw Killer Mike winning Album of the Year for his album ‘Michael’, completing a successful year after his surprise Grammy win for Best Rap Album earlier this year.

SZA and Usher were recognized in the Best RnB/Pop categories, while Victoria Monét won the Best Music Video Award and BET Her Award for her song ‘On My Mama’.

A standout moment of the night was Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, picking up her first individual award for Best YoungStar at just 12 years old. She was a highlight of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, performing on stage alongside professional dancers.

Other notable winners included Lil Durk feat. J. Cole for Best Collaboration with their song “All My Life”, Nicki Minaj for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Kendrick Lamar for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, and Cole Bennett for Video Director of the Year. Denzel Washington won Best Actor, and Regina King won Best Actress.
