TOKYO 2020 OLYMPICS: ESE BRUME WINS NIGERIA’S FIRST MEDAL

Finally, we have gotten our first official medal in the Toykyo 2020 Olympics; Ese Brume won a bronze medal in the womwn’s long jump for team Nigeria.

Competing against reigning world champions Malaika Mihambo and Brittney Reese from the United States in the final event of Long Jump, she out jumped both of them in her first attempt with a leading score of 6.7m also setting the standard in the first of 6 attempts.

 

Germany’s Malaika Mihambo soared to gold, snatching victory from former champion Brittney Reese with her last leap of the competition as she registered a season-best jump of 7.00m catapulting her from Bronze to Gold medal position. However American Olympic champion Reese came with a best jump of 6.97m.

Nigerian Ese Brume finished knowing she was already in the bronze position as she delivered her final jump scoring 6.90m.
