Tinubu Names New Leaders for Key Agencies and Programmes

President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the appointment of seven distinguished Nigerians to lead key agencies and programs within the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development. This decision aims to provide essential relief to Nigerians and ensure the successful implementation of humanitarian and social development initiatives.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the president’s spokesperson, these appointments are intended to enhance the effectiveness of the ministry’s programmes. The appointees’ diverse backgrounds and expertise are expected to bring significant improvements to their respective areas.

The new appointees include:

Dr. Badamasi Lawal has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). Dr. Lawal, who holds a doctorate in education, previously served as a commissioner in Katsina State.

Ms. Funmilola Olotu is now the Programme Manager for the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office. She holds a master’s degree in business administration and has been serving as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on state lotteries.

Ms. Aishat Alubankudi has been designated the Programme Manager for the Grant for Vulnerable Groups. With a bachelor’s degree in community development, Ms. Alubankudi brings experience as a risk assessor and financial manager.

Princess Aderemi Adebowale takes on the role of Programme Manager for the Home Grown School Feeding initiative. Princess Adebowale, who holds a doctorate degree, is the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Civic Engagement and has previously served as a local government chairperson.

Mr. Abdullahi Alhassan Imam has been named the Programme Manager for the National Cash Transfer Office. Mr. Imam holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and has experience as chief accountant at Northern Dairies Ltd and as a bank manager.

Mr. Ayuba Gufwan is the new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for People with Disabilities. Mr. Gufwan, who holds an LLB, is also the executive director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre in Jos.

Ms. Lami Binta Adamu Bello has been appointed the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons. Ms. Binta holds a master’s degree in public administration and has served as the Secretary-General of ALGON and as Permanent Secretary in both the Federal Ministry of Health and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

President Tinubu has expressed his expectations that the new leaders of these crucial agencies and programs will perform their duties with the highest levels of integrity and diligence. Their efforts are anticipated to ensure that Nigerians, particularly the vulnerable groups, benefit directly and exclusively from the administration’s revamped welfare programs.
