The Scout Association of Nigeria, Anambra State Council has joined their counterpart’s all over the world over to celebrate their Founder’s Day.
This memorable event took place at Ezeike high school, Nibo in Awka South Local Government Area. It attracted dignitaries from all walks of life.
Correspondent Chidinma Ikeanyionwu was there and reports that Lord Robert Baden Powell who founded the scout movement over hundred years ago was a soldier, an educator and a prolific writer who made immense contributions to the education of young people through a value system which was based on scout promise and Law.
The mission of the association is to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled and play a constructive role in the society.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Prof Theresa Obiekezie who was represented by Mr. Chibuzo Ude praised the leadership of the council and urged youths to join the association.
In his address, the Anambra State Scout Commissioner, Hon. Levi Ezeudogu expressed the association’s unwavering loyalty to the government of Anambra State through whose benevolence the scout of Anambra State has been consistent and remained relevant.
Speaking to ABS the Assistant Commissioner, Anambra State Scout Movement, Sir Godwin Mkpume who highlighted some of the strategic priorities of the association to include Youth engagement, educational method, social impact, diversity and inclusion, urged parents to enroll their children in the council as it is one of the world’s leading educational movement.
Notably amongst others who spoke during the event included, Chief Hyacinth Okeke and Mr. Ejike Chukwurah.
The event which was the seventh Baden Powell’s day celebration in Anambra State since 2015 witnessed rally against spread of COVID-19 pandemic and the inauguration of state scout ceremonial team and scout award 2021.
