Three persons have been reportedly been killed and others injured by gunmen at Anara, in Isiala Mbano council in Imo State.
It was gathered that the incident took place at about 10pm on Tuesday. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen stormed the market and opened fire, yet explained that their intention was yet to be known. The “As they arrived at the market, they just opened fire and killed three people and several others were wounded,” the eyewitness said.

“Nobody knows why they attacked the market; they arrived and started shooting at the people, people scampered for safety, some people fell on top of each other.”
Police spokesman Michael Abattam confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation had commenced while a team of officers had been sent to the area.
“We are on top of the situation. Apart from the investigative team, we have pushed for more patrol teams in the area.”
