PSG Women have announced that Jennifer Echegini will be part of the club’s squad traveling to Australia in August.
Currently, Echegini is with Nigeria’s Super Falcons in Bordeaux, France, preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The talented young midfielder joined PSG this summer after a brief yet impactful stint with Juventus Ladies in Italy.
Echegini embarked on her professional career by signing her first contract with Juventus in January, following the completion of her studies in the United States. During her time in Italy, she made a significant impression, scoring ten goals, providing one assist, and earning the league’s Young Player of the Year award, which eventually led to her move to PSG.
Due to her commitments with the Super Falcons, Echegini has not yet had the opportunity to train with PSG, the former French champions. The Nigerian international has been in Spain, training with her national team ahead of the Olympics. The Super Falcons are set to face Brazil in Bordeaux on Thursday, followed by matches against Spain and Japan.
After the Olympics, Echegini will remain in France and join PSG’s preseason preparations.
In a statement released on Wednesday, PSG confirmed that Echegini will miss some of their friendly matches in August due to her national team commitments.
