Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing for another significant overseas trip, this time to Colombia. Their last major international visit was to Nigeria in May, where they were warmly received during three days of events. This sparked curiosity about how other royals, including King Charles and Prince William, would react, given the similarities to a traditional royal tour.

According to a columnist, the royals are not concerned about the Sussexes’ upcoming trip to Colombia. Their primary concern was the possibility of Harry and Meghan appearing at the Paris Olympics. “Monarchs and crown princes from across the globe, along with Hollywood royalty, were in Paris. The presence of Harry and Meghan would not have amused Charles or his heir,” the columnist noted.

During the first week of the Paris Games, Princess Anne supported Team GB and presented gold medals to British competitors. This week, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, was in Paris cheering on Team GB’s women’s sprint cyclists to victory.

Harry and Meghan’s upcoming tour will take them to Bogotá and other locations in Colombia. They are scheduled to arrive later this summer, following an invitation from Colombia’s vice-president and equality minister, Francia Márquez. This visit precedes the first Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, which will be held in Colombia in November.

Vice-president Márquez commented, “They will have the exceptional opportunity to engage with leaders, youth, and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress. In addition to these meaningful interactions, The Duke and Duchess will experience the rich heritage of Colombia.”

The Archewell Foundation, founded by the Duke and Duchess, is known for its global efforts to create a safer online environment. The upcoming conference aims to present a comprehensive framework for creating safer physical and digital spaces, addressing issues such as cyberbullying, online exploitation, and their mental health impacts. The event will offer actionable solutions and commitments for countries worldwide.

The trip will be covered by a selected reporter, as well as official photographers and videographers chosen by the couple, and will involve heavy security. This follows the success of their Nigerian tour earlier this year, which left Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, thrilled by the positive reception and coverage.

A source told the Mirror, “Harry and Meghan will carry out a series of engagements aligned with the work of their Foundation and lifelong philanthropic endeavours. The visit is part of their ongoing commitment to global philanthropy, building on their previous work in various countries and continuing their efforts to make a positive impact worldwide.”
