In line with the Federal Government’s resolve to developing the country, Minister of Special Duties, George Akume has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is working towards providing adequate transportation system, to that effect.

As a result of this, the minister stated that a project was initiated to dole out about 2000 buses to cooperative society in Nigeria. The project itself was done between the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to Akume who spoke during the commissioning of the buses in Abuja, he stated that there is no way a country can develop without a good transportation system
It is for this reason that President Buhari is working towards improving upon all areas of transportation; road, air and rail, so as to give Nigerians the best in as much as transportation is concerned.

Furthermore, Akume asserted that both the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, together with some other ministries are working tirelessly to ensure the material that is issuing this project.  To this end, they do not want their integrity to be brought under question.

He also pointed out that President Buhari is working hard to develop the  rail transportation system and also to put the roads in good condition.

In his words: “At this period when there is fuel price increase, more busses are required on the road to check the public transport owners who may want to take advantage of the situation to extort Nigerians. Trust is enshrined in what we are doing and we don’t want our activities to be brought under questioning.”
