President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, received their COVID-19 vaccine jab at the Old Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja.
The President was injected with the vaccine by his Chief Personal Physician, Dr Shuaib Rafindadi Sanusi, while the Vice President was injected by Dr Nicholas Odifre, Personal Physician to the Vice President.
Present to witness the vaccination were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Mr Boss Mustapha; Minister of Health Dr Osagie Ehanire; Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
Nigeria received about four million doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine shipped into the country through the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport on Tuesday.
The vaccination programme in the country kicked off on Friday, March 5 with the vaccination of Doctor Cyprian Nyong of the National Hospital and three other physicians.
Following this, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, on Saturday, asked Nigerians to make themselves available for vaccination against the rampaging virus. He said COVID-19 vaccination certificate will soon become a mandatory requirement to travel anywhere in the world.
Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stated this on Saturday at the New Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He spoke shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, were vaccinated against COVID-19.
After the exercise aimed at dissipating vaccine hesitancy amongst Nigerians, the Executive Secretary of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, presented Buhari and Osinbajo with their COVID-19 vaccination certificates.
Mustapha further urged Nigerians not to believe conspiracy theories and myths about the vaccines.
