Police Arrests 3 Suspected Political Thugs In Sokoto

Three suspected hoodlums have been arrested by the Sokoto State Police Command. They are allegedly planning to engage in violent activities against citizens during the ongoing political campaign season.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesman of the Command, Sanusi Abubakar revealed this in a statement that he signed and provided for the media in Sokoto.

He said the suspects were arrested through a careful intelligence-led operation. Illicit drugs and some deadly weapons were found in their possession.

They were allegedly preparing to cause unnecessary violence and disruption on unsuspecting people in the state.

The Police Spokesman says they are concerned about preventing young people from being initiated and used as thugs ahead ofĀ  political campaigns.

He also said that the state commissioner of police has advised politicians in the state to caution their supporters to always regard the law.

They should also refrain from involving themselves in things that could put human lives in danger or build up situations that are likely to cause destruction of property.

Additionally, he expressed the determination of the police command to take intentional actions and make sure that the offenders are given the appropriate penalties according to present laws and allocation of the constitution.

He said that the commissioner further emphasized that, this is the beginning of a new dawn in Sokoto state as all likely criminal minds are urged to change their waysĀ  for the better or face the full consequences of breaking the law.

According to him, the Police Command will not relent in its efforts to combat crimes in all effect.
