Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Igbo people.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Obi congratulated Senator John Azuta-Mbata, the new President-General; Prince Okey Nwadinobi, the Deputy President-General; Emeka Sibeudu, the Secretary-General; and other members of the executive team on their emergence as leaders of the prestigious organization.

Obi described their election as a testament to the confidence and trust the Igbo people place in their leadership abilities and their dedication to regional and national development. “Their emergence as the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the umbrella body that unites the Igbo people, underscores the level of confidence and hope the people have in their leadership ability and their commitment to the development of the region and the nation in general,” he said.

The former governor expressed optimism that the new executives would utilize their positions to foster peace and unity across Nigeria, while also advancing ideas that promote development, progress, and harmony among the people.

“I pray that they will leverage their new offices to continue to work for the peace and unity of our nation and contribute immeasurably to ideas that will drive development, peace, and progress among the people,” Obi added.

He also offered prayers for wisdom and strength for the newly elected leaders, urging them to remain steadfast in their service to the Igbo people and the country at large.
