Egungun Festival

The Egungun Festival Oyo State (EFOS) is gearing up to celebrate the rich heritage of Oyo State from July 11th to 13th, 2024, at Liberty Stadium.

Organized by the Ibile Culture and Tourism Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Malimbe Labs, and FUJI: A Opera, the event aims to spotlight the state’s diverse culture, music, and food.

Highlighting the essence of Oyo’s cultural legacy, the festival will feature performances by Egungun masquerades from all 33 local governments of Oyo State. These masquerades carry deep historical significance, symbolizing resilience and unity.

Adding a rhythmic vibe to the festivities, renowned artists will showcase electrifying Fuji music performances. Additionally, culinary enthusiasts can savor the flavors of Amala cuisine as vendors from across Oyo State compete in a lively competition to be crowned the best Amala vendor, showcasing the region’s diverse gastronomic offerings.

Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, Oyo State Commissioner of Information, Culture & Tourism, emphasized the festival’s role in celebrating identity, tradition, and community. He stated, “This festival serves as a vibrant showcase of our rich cultural heritage, providing a platform to honor and preserve our traditions for generations to come.”

Dr. Adun Okupe, Principal Advisor at Red Clay Advisory, invited everyone to partake in the three days of joyous festivities and cultural exchange, highlighting the significance of EFOS 2024 as a celebration of unity, diversity, and cultural pride.

EFOS 2024 promises to be an immersive experience, intertwining mesmerizing performances, rhythmic beats, and delectable flavors. With its fusion of art, music, culture, and culinary delights, the festival aims to captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and celebration in the Pace Setter State.
