Former lawmaker Sam Onuigbo has praised the establishment of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC), highlighting it as a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the inclusive development of the post-civil war South East.

Responding to Mr. Tinubu’s recent enactment of the South-East Development Commission Bill, Mr. Onuigbo, who previously served in the House of Representatives, expressed his approval in a statement released on Wednesday. He lauded Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu for his pivotal role in ensuring the bill’s passage, emphasizing that the commission would be tasked with promoting comprehensive growth and development within the region.

Mr. Onuigbo also acknowledged the contributions of South-East representatives in the North-East Development Commission, commending their co-sponsorship of the bill. He pointed out that this initiative reflects a sincere commitment to addressing the region’s persistent issues of insecurity and infrastructure decay.

Additionally, he praised Kalu for his outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to the South-East’s advancement, noting that these qualities were first evident during the inauguration and execution of the Peace in the South East Project (PISE-P).

Furthermore, Mr. Onuigbo extended his gratitude to President Tinubu for his commitment to fostering a united and prosperous Nigeria, ensuring that no region is neglected. This move, according to him, signifies a strong commitment to national unity and progress.
