Onitsha is a city ( also known as Onicha Mmili, Onicha Ado N’Idu ) located in Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria. It is a monarch community comprising Onitsha North and South LGAs. Onitsha is a significant commercial centre with the largest market in West Africa and has a rich cultural heritage.
Onitsha is situated on the eastern bank of the Niger River and is known for its vibrant markets, historical landmarks, with tapestries of Benin, Igala and Igbo culture.
The Onitsha Improvement Union Lagos Chapter, established in 1924 in Eko, is pleased to announce the upcoming Onitsha Day Lagos 2025, a vibrant celebration of Onitsha Ado N’Idu cultural heritage.
This year’s event marks a significant milestone – the centenary anniversary of the Onitsha Improvement Union.Event Details

– Expected attendees: Top government officials, dignitaries, and Onitsha indigenes led by Obi of Onitsha and his entourage, Ndiche, Agbalanze, Otu Odu, musical troupes all the way from Onitsha with masquerades display ( Agbogho Mmuo and Ijele), Onitsha Age grades with branches in Lagos, outstation villages and family meetings with branches in Lagos, Onitsha Improvement Union President General and his entourage from headquarters in Onitsha.Highlights
