Nigerian seasoning brand Onga took centre stage at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Cultural Day, turning the spotlight on African food traditions with a lively showcase themed “Festival of Flavours.”
Held at the AMVCA Cultural Village in Lagos, the event featured a rich spread of local Nigerian dishes such as Egusi and Yellow Garri, Amala with Ewedu, Miyan Kuka and Masa, and Ofada rice with Ayamase sauce. Guests were also treated to palm wine and grilled meats, curated to reflect authentic African tastes. The Onga team led the charge in creating an immersive culinary experience, celebrating Nigeria’s diverse food culture.
The celebration attracted a host of actors, creators, and musicians. Notably, Enioluwa Adeoluwa and Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan co-hosted the event, blending modern media flair with traditional festivity. Guests dressed in cultural attire danced to live percussion, adding rhythm and vibrancy to the evening.
Adebola Williams, Marketing Director at Promasidor Nigeria Ltd., described the event as part of Onga’s continued commitment to African storytelling and talent. “This marks our third year partnering with the AMVCAs. We remain intentional about supporting African cultural narratives and the local creatives telling them,” he said.
During the AMVCA main gala, Onga sponsored three key categories:
Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) – Lateef Adedimeji for Lisabi
Best Scripted Series – Inside Life
Best Non-Scripted Series – Wa Milele
Oladapo Oshuntoye, Culinary Category Manager at Promasidor Nigeria, highlighted the brand’s mission to fuse food with culture and identity. “Our participation reflects how food and storytelling shape African experiences. We want our seasoning to be part of that narrative,” he said.
Onga’s involvement in the 2025 AMVCAs is part of Promasidor’s wider strategy to engage with the cultural and creative sectors across Africa, using taste and tradition as tools of connection.
