Nigerian rap luminary Olamide thrilled his fans by unexpectedly dropping his latest EP titled “Ikigai / 生き甲斐, Vol. 1.” The title, “Ikigai,” is a Japanese term that translates to “a reason for living,” reflecting a deeper thematic exploration in the project.
The EP includes several remarkable collaborations that have generated much excitement among listeners. Notably, the second track, “Uptown Disco,” features contributions from YBNL stars Asake and Fireboy DML, promising an upbeat and infectious anthem that is sure to resonate with fans. Additionally, the talented vocalist SABRI lends her voice to “Knockout,” a track that showcases a captivating blend of vocals and lyrical prowess.
However, for many of Olamide’s long-time fans, the standout moment of the EP is undoubtedly the seventh track, “Synchro System.” This song marks a significant reunion, bringing Olamide together with Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh – all former members of his YBNL label.
