Obi of Onitsha, ABU Zaria Chancellor, attends as Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala receives honorary doctorate from the university

Dr Okonjo-Iweala has been conferred a Doctor of Science degree by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, at the institution’s convocation ceremony held today, January 31. 2026.

The chancellor of the university, His Majesty, Nnaemeka Achebe, CFR, mni, Obi of Onitsha, Agbogidi, presided over the ceremony.

Specifically, the university awarded Dr Okonjo-Iweala the honorary degree in recognition of her distinguished career in global finance, international economic governance, and her leadership of the World Trade Organisation.
