With the infection rate of the coronavirus on a decline, Vice Chancellors of universities in the country have been directed to fast-track arrangements for the immediate and full re-opening of their respective institutions.
This directive comes off the National Universities Commission, NUC following the acceptance of its request by the Ministry of Education, for the institutions to resume academic activities promptly.
The memo was passed across to all the Vice Chancellors in the country by Chris Maiyaki, the Director, Directorate of the Executive Secretary’s Office on behalf of Abubakar Rasheed, the NUC Executive Secretary.
The NUC noted in the memo that it became pertinent for reopening formalities to begin, since the decline in the coronavirus infection, has been evident.
Furthermore, NUC stated that the universities can now conclude their resumption arrangements as long as they are in line with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, guidelines, and other existing NUC assurance and guidelines.
