December in Africa is more than a month; it is an experience. The dry winds, the endless nights, the crowded streets, and the long-awaited homecomings all merge into something unforgettable.
Parties run all year, but in December, there is a reckless abandon that electrifies the air. Sometimes it makes hearts collide. Love in December often burns fast, sweet, and short, disappearing with the season. Yet every now and then, though rare, it lingers. It settles deep, steady, and lasting, stretching quietly into forever.
How the Anthology Began
Noisy Streets’ Love in Detty December anthology was created to capture this energy. It explores what it means to fall in or out of love during the most electric moment of the year. Since its first edition, the project has gathered stories that reflect the chaos, sweetness, and intensity of December romance.
From First Edition to Print
With the second edition, Noisy Streets celebrated love in all its forms by releasing their first print anthology: A Man and A Woman and Other Stories. It was a collection that brought the magic, mess, and emotions of December to life on paper.
The Third Edition and Call for Writers
Now, for the third edition, Noisy Streets is inviting young Nigerian and African writers to share fiction or nonfiction that explores love in December. They are looking for bold, unapologetically authentic, unforgettable work that mirrors African realities while daring to reimagine them.
Submissions close on the 10th of October 2025. Selected writers will be paid and published. More details about the submission process can be found at NoisyStreetss.com.
