D’Tigers which is the Nigerian senior basketball team, lost their opening game to Australia on Sunday, July 25 at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic games.

The Nigerian team had played impressively earlier at the exhibition games; the team won USA and Argentina.

The hype has been intense as we couldn’t wait for the Olympic games to begin, however, D’Tigers lost their opening game which has instilled a little calm.

It was a close game in the first quarter, but the Dā€™Tigers lost the game due to failures from the free throw lines, and lack of three-point shooting was a glaring weakness that lost them the game.

The Nigerian team still battled, ending the first quarter level on points with the Australians 23-23.

However, the Aussies leveled up and were in the lead at the end of the second quarter. It was the same for the third and fourth before winning the tie 84-67.

Facing the Germans who also lost their game to Italy, in our second game, we do hope that D’Tigers would bounce back from the defeat when they face Germany in their second game.
