Nigeria is taking fresh steps to strengthen its bond with Argentina through deeper cooperation in information, culture, and media.

This renewed commitment was at the heart of discussions when the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, received Argentina’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Nicholas Perrazo Nao, during a courtesy visit in Abuja.

Idris described the meeting as a chance to reinforce a long-standing friendship rooted in respect and shared global interests. He assured that Nigeria remains open to partnerships that promote public communication, cultural diplomacy, and people-to-people connections.

“On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, I want to assure Your Excellency that we value this visit and see it as another step towards strengthening the friendship and partnership between Nigeria and Argentina. Our Ministry remains committed to fostering collaboration that promotes mutual understanding, especially in the area of public communication, cultural diplomacy, and people-to-people exchange,” Idris said.

The Minister also congratulated Ambassador Perrazo on his continued service in Nigeria and expressed confidence that his leadership would advance cooperation in media development and public enlightenment.

In response, Ambassador Perrazo thanked the Minister for the warm reception and praised Nigeria for its leadership across the African continent. He highlighted the importance of information as a bridge that connects nations, stressing that positive narratives can help build stronger ties.

He also noted the symbolic timing of the meeting, which coincided with a friendly football match between the under-20 teams of both nations, describing it as a reflection of the cultural and sporting friendship between Nigeria and Argentina.

Both sides agreed on the need to explore new opportunities for collaboration between media institutions and to expand cultural exchange programmes that promote shared values. The meeting ended with a mutual pledge to sustain dialogue and strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
