The Africa Centre in London has announced a new strategic partnership with Nigeria’s National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) aimed at promoting African heritage and innovation globally.

The collaboration will focus on developing cultural programming, exhibitions, and artistic exchanges that celebrate Africa’s rich heritage while strengthening its cultural influence worldwide.

Dr. Denis Olofu, Head of Media at NCAC, revealed that a central element of the partnership involves the development of “Origins,” NCAC’s digital storytelling and heritage platform. The platform aims to connect Africa with its global descendants through history, memory, and creativity, creating what he described as “a living archive of African identity and imagination.”

The Africa Centre will serve as a foundation partner for the Origins initiative, aligning with the Centre’s strategic theme of “The Global African,” which focuses on amplifying the voices and experiences of people of African descent around the world.

Olu Alake, Chief Executive Officer of The Africa Centre, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: “This partnership represents a powerful manifestation of how arts and culture bring people and institutions together to take huge steps forward in connecting Africa with its diaspora through shared stories and cultural expression.”

Hon. Obi Asika, Director General of NCAC, emphasized the organization’s commitment to using culture as a bridge between African nations and the global diaspora. “Origins will serve as a digital gateway to our heritage, and we’re excited to build this with a partner that shares our vision and values,” Asika stated.

Prof. Oba Nsugbe SAN, Chair of The Africa Centre, added that the partnership provides both organizations with a unique opportunity to “further elevate our shared heritage and foster closer ties among people of African descent.”

In the upcoming months, The Africa Centre and NCAC plan to announce a series of joint initiatives focused on elevating African creativity through intellectual development, digital innovation, and global connections, with special emphasis on youth engagement.
